The only thing any responsible person could do would be to seek professional help and guidance. This would be a real nightmare!
I wonder if some people do 'know' that something is wrong , but out of love and a desire to protect their child they try and hide what they see, hear and 'know'.
It is sad that there is not really anyone a parent can turn to and say 'my child is flawed' without feeling blamed or afraid.
Great question, really interesting to read some of the (serious) responses, too. Thanks.

I know someone whose brother was a sociopath. She was happy when he died. He terrorized her throughout her childhood, and his abuse included rape. He was extremely charming and no one caught on. Although the family was dysfunctional, there was no abuse by the parents. When he was older he had a child, but no one knows what happened to him. The thought of what that child probably went through is nauseating.
Knowing all that, and knowing how much I love my own kids, makes it a terrible issue. As a parent you want to do what's best for your child, and that child also has legal rights, but these children are DANGEROUS. They are sadists and have no conscience. They don't care about consequences. The trauma they inflict lasts forever.
Special schooling is an option, but then you're just unleasing the devil on what is often a vulnerable population. Plus it could be unaffordable.
I wish there were a way they could be humanely locked up forever. If anything is evil, it's a sociopath.

There is no cure, and they see love as a weakness to be exploited. They are emotion blind in the same way as some are color blind. I think the best I could do would be to warn everyone that comes in contact with the child of the little monster's true nature. It's really the best I could do for society--warn teachers, friends, employers that this is a person who will turn on you without a shred of conscience.
I'm biased, of course. I was targeted by a psychopath at work.

Honestly get help. I know that as a parent you goal is to protect them from anything, however with sociopaths there is no cure. They may start small bullying, or hurting animals. Maybe some fires, but then it gets alot worst.
By getting counseling, and medications you can lessen the effect and try to stop it before anything real bad happens. As a parent you have to protect your child but sometimes that means protecting against there self.

Depending on your child's age, there are some good therapies.
Try reading some books to help you gain a sense of direction and comfort in making choices.
For example, Ken Magid has an excellent book (High Risk: Children Without a Conscience).
Best wishes, friend, on turning things around; may you be blessed with positive results.

Try to be very kind to him or her. Give the child some resposibilities and encourage him if he does them well. Try to get him involved in a team sport where he can learn to support others and can rely on the support of others. If possible get him involved with supervised community projects,it will cultivate respect for others. Lastly seek proffesional help if you feel that you cannot handle the situation. Someone in your church or a mental care professional or your GP. I believe there is medication that can help.

Take the child to a psychologist. They may be able to pickup early signs of behavior that's not entirely normal for the specific age group. There's really not much else you can do.

Have him assessed by a therapist for ADD, ADHD and for any other cogitive disorder. Or for him / her just to talk with a therapist to help find out the real problem.

I don't know...I guess I would seek psychiatric help for them, and if they were beyond hope look for some kind of residential treatment for them to keep them and the world safe.
