I did this combined degree at the ANU. The load was about 25% more than doing a single degree (8 units instead of 6), and both sides were quite time consuming (I majored in Computer Science on the science side).

The amount of pressure you'd feel depends what you major in on the science side, and how well you manage your time.

If you're good at managing your time to ensure you don't spend all your time socialising at uni (which is very easy for some people to do!) you'll be fine. :)

Science and law do have some few considerations in common. For example, the unit Legal Theory includes discussions about ethics, and there are ethics units in the science stream; there are also Intellectual Property considerations in science, and potentially litigious issues in the science streams that you'll appreciate better with your law studies.

How about issues like patenting the human genome? Getting sued over a piece of Y2K computer programming which fails? The legal issues for setting up a laboratory...?

There are probably a couple of people who could handle doing completely opposite majors , with totally opposite undergrad work ,
BUT . . . the vast majority of humans would take a pass on that
( since science and law have next to nothing in common )
Only you know if you can handle that !
