I think probably the knicks because its short for "knickerbockers." I don't know what it means but it sounds hella dumb.

Charlotte Bobcats - Sounds like a college team name.
Golden State Warriors also sounds like a college team name, but I like the name okay.

Lots of teams have dumb names or at least names that don't fit in their current city.

Lakers - no lakes in LA, but 10,000 in Minneapolis which is where the team started.

Jazz- no Jazz music in Utah (trust me) but Jazz music was born in New Orleans where the team started.

However, several of the team names fit the city perfectly:

Seattle Supersonics - named because of Boeing located in Seattle

Indiana Pacers - named because of the Indy 500

Orlando Magic - named because of Disney World

The Lakers. Where the hell are the lakes in LA? Aren't they originally from Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes? Whenever a team moves, it should be forced to change names.

If you're going to put the Lakers down for lack of lakes in Los Angeles, then you better put Utah and Memphis down too. Name me one famous Jazz musician in Utah, and how many Grizzly bears do you see in Memphis? I realize they originated in other cities, that's my point in putting the Lakers down. The team moved, so did the name.
