Actually yes, trees do cool the planet but I think that there are 2 different reasons:
1. CO2, or carbon dioxide, is the main reason for global warming, ie, heating up of the earth. Trees absorb CO2 and release oxygen, reducing the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere. So, they indirectly cool the earth by reducing the level of CO2 in the atmosphere.
2. Transpiration is the process of eveporation of water from the leaves of trees. In a forest, where trees are abundant, a lot opf transpiration takes place. This transpiriation leads to formation of clouds and eventually rainfall, which reduces the land temperature. So again, trees cool the planet.

Trees, just like every object on earth has what is called its "Albedo". That is the amount of solar rays to be reflected by an object. Trees have a very low albedo and absorb much of the suns rays or energy. This in turn would make the trees warm (how much would depend on foliage and type), therefore keeping the surrounding area warmer. Snow has the highest albedo as it reflects the suns energy and gives skiers great sun tans on their face. Also, you could think of two cars in the sun. One black and one white. Which car would be cooler? The white one as it has a higher albedo than the black car. The black car absorbs more heat or energy from the sun. I hope this helps with your question.

YES, because trees breath in carbon dioxide which is a green house gas (co2) which is causing global warming on earth. Lunged animals like us humans breath out carbon dioxide. TREES love (co2) because they breath it in and release oxygen (o) that us living things need to survive by breathing in. and oxygen (o) is responsible for creating ozone layer which is a barrier in the high atmosphere that helps protect us from the suns deadly rays in which keeps our earth cool. If trees or plantlife was not here we would end up like the planet venus or mars. GOD is great how he created both plants and mammals to coexists to balance things out one takes care of another. I'm going to say yes, although it isn't perfectly clear what you mean.
According to a program developed by UC Davis and the US Forest Service, they calculated the monetary value of a tree. Included benefits were, "...its contribution to cleaning the air by absorbing carbon dioxide, and how much its shade helps reduce energy consumption".
So, by reducing greenhouse gases and also by minimizing the urban heat island effect, trees do contribute in cooling.

Yes, overall energy balance will be in favor of cooling the planet by fixing the carbon in the atmosphere.

trees do cool the planet indirectly........that is the trees stop the clouds and increases the rainfall........... so you can say these tree "cool" the planet.............. nice way of asking the question !
I hope I was upto your point
