I surf the Internet a lot and open a lot of new windows all the time. After opening up so many new windows, my computer seems to "run out of memory" and will not allow any more new windows to open.

Even if I try to right click, the little right click menu won't open. Sometimes it won't even open the shut down menu. Why does it do this?

This is a brand new computer and it has lots of hard drive space. It has 960 MB of Ram and a 177 GB hard drive. There is 161 GB of available hard drive space on my computer. So why would it say a message like "not enough memory to do this action, try closing out some programs and try again."

Please help! It's so aggravating to have to reboot every hour!

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't matter how much RAM you have -- if it's overloaded, it's overloaded.

You can purchase as much RAM as your computer will tolerate, or:
- set wallpaper and screensaver to blank or none
- review startup menu and load only that which you need daily
- run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, and defrag every two weeks
- don't keep so many windows open at one time

a freeze is not nice.

The harddisk plays no major role here, on the RAM does. Though you have 960 MB of RAM, there are a lot of processes going on in your system which uses memory and then when you simultaneously run Progs like Firefox and Winamp, more memory is being used and after a while the system can't take it anymore. Are you sure you aren't using too many processes. Would recommend you to Ctrl+Alt+Del and then check the usage of resources. Close the apps which you don't want.

In Win XP: Right Click My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced >> Performance Settings >> Advanced >> Change Virtual Memory.

See which disk is free and allocate some memory from it. So that it won't crash again.
