Well it depends on the city. Savannah, definitely, Detroit, probably not. Besides, don't forget that many cities were named after people to begin with.

That would depend upon what city you are being named after. London would be an okay name for a man but I sure wouldnt want to be called Brussels. For a woman we all know the famous Paris Hilton and that name is okay except it brings to mind Paris Hilton who I dont think much of. Even Sicily is not bad for a girl.

It all depends on the city, Paris is alright, Tokyo is weird, London is nice, Baghdad is horrible, Dallas is great, Rome is cool, Orlando is okay, and Brooklyn is awesome. In general I think it is neat to give a child a middle name after the city they were conceived in, but again it depends on the city.

Well, it depends on the city. Some sound name-like. I certainly wouldnt name my kid Portland or Sweet Home or something. But my daughter's name is Brooklyn. Although it is a city, its also the combination of Brook and Lyn, and therefore a feminine name. And no, we live nowhere near Brookyn NewYork. We're on oppoiste sides of the country. Brooklyn was just my way of jazzing up the name Brook.

That depends. Is the city named after a person or ????
I wouldn't like being named New York, London or Amsterdam.
A few, like Austin and Sienna, isn't too bad.

I think it's fun, depending on the city. I know girls with the names Houston and Dallas, and I think it's pretty cute. Though Las Vegas or Philadelphia would be a heck of a name.

There is a celebrity couple who named all of their children after the cities in which they were conceived. I think its an awesome idea, as long as the name of the city isn't going to make the childs life miserable.

I love it. I think its a fun way of being creative. Obvisouly don't pick names that your child will get taunted with, but there are plenty of city names and country names that you could use that would sound beautiful. Personally, I love the names Austin, and Madison.

My daughter is named after County Kerry in Ireland. That's the place in Ireland some of her great-grandparents are from. Recently she told me she didn't like her name, but that could have been true of anything we named her.
I like the idea of being named after an ancestor. We just didn't have a good set of ancestral names at the time.
We named one of our cats Orlando, but it wasn't because of the city in Florida or Orlando Bloom. We wanted to give him a literary name.
Some city names are obviously stupid. Who wants to be burdened with a name like Liverpool or Milwaukee? Others are nice, or can be tweaked a little: Athens/Athene, Carson (City), Charlotte Amalie, Constanta, Daly (City), Denver, Eugene, Helena, Irvine, Jinja, Juneau, Kandy, La Paz....

some are ok like austin, savannah, brooklyn, dallas, those are some good ones. If I have a boy next time his name is going to either be austin riley or riley austin and girl morgan savannah or savannah morgan. I didn't think of the names as cities but I guess they are
