Worth a visit just for the view of the bay. It is not far at all from the train station.
You could even go across where you can take a ferry and look for a pedicab to take you down to Seaport Village passing by the USS Midway on the way.

The San Diego Trolley has a Seaport Village stop. It is an easy walk from the trolley station. If you come into Union Station it is not too bad of a walk to Seaport Village. Just walk West from Union station to the harbor and walk South along the harbor. It is a mile or two but a very pleasant easy walk.

Easy four block walk from Amtrac Santa Fe station to Sea Port Village, or you can wait 15 minutes and couple of bucks for trolley to take you two blocks away. Also close to Horton Plaza for further unique shopping experience, Midway Museum and Gaslamp. Have a great time!

so close to the downtown train station you could walk.
it's about one mile south.
you can walk along the bay, past the Midway museum.
Seaport Village is nothing more than a nice bunch of shops on the bay with a few restaurants.
Downtown / Gaslamp area is just east of the train station.
And has much better restaurants.

ought to she have meant the Horton Grand? Ask her regardless of if it quite is an previous motel from the Victorian era yet with small (if effective) rooms. i think of that is approximately 5 (short) blocks from seaport village (far flung from the water)..........

Overpriced for tourists but varied boutique shops. Pretty good hot sauce shop, and if I go to the Embarcadero, Kansas City Barbeque, or Hyatt I usually park there. Good place to go if you're doing the basics in SD.
