When I enter a search criterion into Internet Explorer and it returns the list of sites containing that information, many, many times when I click on a specific site listing, some other Internet site intervenes and "hijacks" my search. I have to return to the original search results page a few times and re-click the site I want before it goes to that site without further interference. This has only been happening for a couple of weeks. Also, when I add these "hikacker" sites to my list of restricted sites, they stil manage to get through most of the time. What can I do to solve this problem. Qualified answers only, please.

Scan your PC wit these to get rid of any hijackers. Both are free and safe to use.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

Run the 3 anti spyware programs listed below
A) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2007/03/spybot-search-and-destroy-spyware-and.html do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode .Then use the immunize feature to block bad sites from secretely installing any more trojan downloaders.

If you are no longer making use of your pc for something that expressly calls for a microsoft working process, appear into exchanging to Linux. With a thoroughly setup Linux pc, it's not likely to be hijacked from rogue websites, NOTHING occurs with out your permission.

Sounds like you have picked up some malware.

Update your antivirus software and install and run an antispyware program like spybot or adaware SE.

I find some links deceptive or not exactly what I want, but I have not yet been misdirected. If it were me, I would go into Safe Mode and run Ad-aware, spybot, and my antivirus program.
