i've heard the myth that cutting paper is bad for the blade of your pocket knife, is this true?

I think anything will eventually dull a knife blade. I cut much
cardboard where I work, and my knife gets dull quickly.

No its a good way to see how sharp it is the only bad things for blades is cutting hard item that may bend the edge of the blade and cutting cat tails the plant its hard to get an edge on a good knife after thats done.

Yes, it is really bad. You use scissors to cut paper. Plus you are to designate your knife for certain things.

cutting anything with your knife is bad if you think about it. it causes friction when you cut something and results in a dulling blade.

Not that I am aware of but I am presuming that you are talking of cutting one or two sheets and not many.
