i was watching a show on the Science Channel recently about parallel universes. a question came to mind that they never answered. does the possibility of an infininte number of parallel universes mean that anything we imagine(day dream) about in this universe, like super heroes, for instance, or creatures like dragons, centaurs, or anything else the human imagination can conjure, isn't really imaginary? that if you had the ability to search all those universes, you'd eventually find one where those are real?

In theory...yes, actually! If the number of parallel universes really are infinite, then it's seriously likely. I'm no scientist; this is just my logic, though!

Why not? The notion of parallel universes is no better supported by the evidence than are the notions of Superman or Santa Claus. But scientists who have gone to the well of new theoretical discovery and found it drying up, (for whatever reason), have to hypothesize SOMETHING, don't they? So why not parallel universes? And worm holes, and time travel, and free energy, etc. Not everything that comes from scientists is hard science. Much of it is pure speculation. Some of it is wishful thinking or wistful whimsy. Some of it is pie-in-the-sky nonsense. Unfortunately, we, the viewers, are expected to be able to tell the difference.

If there are an infinite number of parallel universes, then anything that you dream of, will exist in some other universe. I doubt there are infinite universes, though. Infinity isn't really a number...just a concept.

But, the answer to your question is yes.

If there are an infinite number of these parallel universes then anything y ou can think of will be true in one of them, BUT, if there are a finite number then the possibilities reduce

Yes. If there are an infinity of universes, then there are an infinite number of chances for everything. Which means, everything would exist somewhere. This is an excellent example of how overwhelming and incomprehensible the idea of infinity really is.

I suppose one might say that. One theory for parallel universes is that every possible outcome is represented at some point.

In other words, it's possible. Anything is possible in a parallel universe: you just have to find the right one.

In theory i suppose that you could, but honestly i think you would, but the technology we have is too meak and outdated for time travel of that sorts, because i think that if there other universes aren't our dreams connected to that in some way, there is no logical explanation for this answer though, its all about opinion, so yeah, dream on, or do something, find out.

They only exist in science fiction and wildly unreal theories
Infinity is not a concept, the universe continues on infinitely and that is what's hard to visualize and conceive. The universe had no beginning, will never end, has no center, edges, corners, or anything else talked about in fiction or Star Trek/Star Wars wordings. It just is and will always be. The things in it will not. Everything in the universe has an end, but not the universe itself.

Yes, its a theory of how time works as a fractal probability of the quantum field of potential. everything exists simultaneously, all possible outcomes of choice, our actions set a coarse through the flow of time, branching from probability to probability, It is this theory that allows time travel to become plausible without the paradox of going back in time and killing your grandfather, you still exist, but in a alternate time line. It also explains why time travelers from the future never arrive here in the past, in actuality, they do, just not in the time line they left, you can never get back home, so to say.

I think to some extent that given an infinity of universes and an infinity of time there are an infinity of possibilities.
