What I've learned:
Your parent's ambitions aren't your ambitions. It is important in the world to find the balance in pleasing your family and being responsible for your own life and your happiness.
Your confusion stems from the problem of well-intentioned parents who, instead of support, use force or coersion to have their children live a life of their choosing, rather than nurturing their children to the best person that they can be.
Do what you love and if you can find a way to get paid for doing what you love then, you will have peace and happiness.
If you are prepared to accept less money or less wealth over the course of your life, that is your choice. Thank your parents for what they have provided and let them know that you won't be asking for their money later.
You haven't stated your passion, however, there are many roads to the same passion and perhaps that is where you might use their guidance or someone elses.
As you age, you will also become more independent.
The world is filled with people who have changed professions because they were unhappy trying to please others. Please yourself first and others will benefit from your happiness.

Life is meant to be this hard...but I prefer to insert challenging rather than hard.
Follow your passion, do what you love and work will never seem like work. This is YOUR life, not your parents. If you want to live with regret, choose the safe way, and get a job you kind of like, that you kind of do well, but my question would be, "Where's the integrity? Where's the love for life, the passion for living, because believe you me, doing a job you don't really give a sh*t about will suck your soul dry

Life is confusing when you are torn between two decisions. Follow your passion. Your parents aren't living your life, YOU are. Would you want to wake up at 50 rich, but unhappy? Money is not worth as much as happiness and fulfillment. Too many people give up their dreams and end up becoming bitter and corrupt. Thus contributing to all that is bad in the world. It will be hard at first and you might want to give up. But if you stick to your guns, your soul will be the one reaping the benefits :)

Life is confusing. There are times you end up in a forked road. Your parent's desires and your own desires. Life is so confusing.
The only way to not be confused is to commit your life to the Lord. Cause when you commit everything to the Lord, HE WILL BRING IT TO PASS. Whatever decision you'll be making, He will guide you and will help you if you allow Him to. You won't regret. You will learn a lot about life. I learn a lot from Him cause He's the best Teacher about life. Just continually pray and give this matter to God and just follow Him. You can hear Him by reading the Bible. Try to read Proverbs. Ask Him to help you be sensitive to His calling. He loves you and wants you to humble down and trust Him.

Sure, life is confusing. You start on one path and end up on another. I don't know how old you are, but if you are younger, obey your parents. In the end, you will decide what you will do.
I had a friend whose parents wanted her to be a doctor. She stayed on that track until sophomore year when she finally had the nerve and the skills to tell them what she really wanted.
It will all work out. Stop trying to plan your life. Every time I do that, life throws me a curve ball. Just set goals and strive to meet them.
Good luck!

Your life will go through many changes. Find what you love and choose a path that allows you to enjoy it.
Sometimes the path that will allow you the most enjoyment from your passion is not the path dominated by it.
good luck!

If you live for money then do what your parents say. If you live for passion then pursue your dreams.
I want to be an artist, but everyone tells me that is unrealistic. So I am just doing what they say until I can do it on my own. If no one will help me then I will help myself.

In my opinion, it is better to love what you're doing and make little money than hate what you're doing and make a lot.
I believe the meaning of life is happiness.
