I think you should do better and check his ears more often. And a piece of advice, you should flush the ears. Q-tips are for cleaning around the inside of the lobe. By cleaning it with a Q-tip YOU are building the family that lives there. Think about it. I'm not one trying to be mean, just educating those who do not know. And I'm not askin' 4 a star!!!!

Wow, that is pretty bad. Might I suggest ear candles. You can find them in most health food stores. You shouldn't use them more than once a month, maybe even less often, because you need to maintain a certain amount of earwax deep in the canal to keep your ears healthy, but the candles help get rid of excess. You won't believe how much easier it is to hear after one session!

I would advise helping him to clean them and showing him if he doesn't understand good hygene. Doing more of a check up before they start to create colonies. I'm not sure the age of your child but if you begin to teach him now to clean his ears, brush his teeth, shower, etc; he will have a better chance of not being teased at school. Kids like my kid talk about and laughs about kids at school that have bundles of ear wax and goop on their teeth. It's sad but true. He's 14 and takes pride in his hygene. Every kid should, it's the very least they can do fo everyone around.
p.s. he would never tease another school mate in front of him but but he and friends talk about this gross stuff behind there back. It's just the reality. You want your kid to sort-of fit in and kids can be harsh.
Really, this isn't to be rude, just truthful.

That is what causes children to have "selective" hearing! Won't find any families living in my ears! But with kids, they can hear - McDonalds but can't hear clean your room!
But aren't they great to have around? And they grow up too fast!

No, that has never happened to me. I clean my ears every morning after I shower. Elephants are actually pretty well-known for their impeccable ear hygiene, THANK you very much.
