On a calculator type in thee top number (also called the numerator) press the divide sign (looks like this but the dots are on the top and bottom of the line, and in the center of the line) instead of the sides .l.
Then type in the number on bottom ( also called the denominator) then press the = sign or or the "ENTER" button.
That number is the fraction in decimal form.

Example. 1/2.
Press the "1" button, the press the "divide" button, then press th "2" button, then press "ENTER/="
The next screen is the answer should say 0.5

Remember to always press the "clear" button before you start a problem, if you don't the calculator might factor in the answer of the last problem.
Hope this helped.

to turn a fraction into a decimal, you divide the top number, the numerator, by the bottom number, the denominator. That will give you a decimal equivalent to the fraction.
ex. 1/4=4 into 1.00= .25
simple.

a fraction is really just a division problem. you want to divide the numerator (the top number) by the denominator (bottom number). 1/2 = .5, 3/5 = .6

if the number does not divide in one step and you do not have a calculator, you will have to use long division.
