Yes, I do. It's one of my favorite stations. Lately, they have had a lot of shows on WWII and the concentration camps. They interviewed survivors of the camps. It always amazes me how one group of people can hate another group so much to commit ethnic cleansing campaigns. And it is sad to know that it still happens.

I watch the history station every day and I have found that so interesting! I used to hate history, but now I love it. It is really fun to know how other cultures lived, who caused certain wars, what caused America to be formed, who supported us, All about kings and queens all over the world, they will go into the pyramids of the past Pharaohs and show where the stones came from. They teach about cultures that disappeared off the face of the earth and no one knows what happened to them. The latest has been about Hitler, one of the most wicked men in history, and you actually get to see a side of him that makes him appear almost human, for a second or two. He had a serious illness towards the end of his life that caused him to make poor decisions, and respond in a slower fashion, and they actually accredit that to part of the loss of the war. Since I began to watch the history channel, I can't imagine not watching it, because it gives me such knowledge of the past and I really enjoy it!

They are ok - and just ok. Some programs have very interesting info, but others are done with a slant or spin (good example is all of the stuff that came about with the DaVinci Code). Its good to watch, can be informative, but in no way should replace books and historical texts. Many of those shows take liberties, and force or address an opinion.
I have a degree in U.S. history, and my hubby laughs at me because when he puts those shows on, I spend half the time arguing with the tv.

Not often.
As a trained unpaid historian, I usually find their treatments to be superficial, interesting and disappointing. They do not do a good job always of separating attested facts from beliefs, proofs from hypotheses, and mere opinions from standards based evaluations.
What I like about them is that the pictures bring history to life and sometimes they bring up knowledge I did not know existed.
So I keep watching.

I do, but I am limited to whatever historical programs Discovery Channel or National Geographic Channel show.
The most recent program I watched was an excellent documentary on how the British secretly removed tea plants from China, and successfully transplanted the plants in India.
"Who Dares Wins."

Lois,
I do watch History, Military, Discovery, A&E, Nat'l Geographic, C-SPAN, etc. Between military battles (decisions made and why) and other current and/or historical events all of these lead me to be able to pull reports for further reading. Either important for self interest or my career.
Hope this helps.

I'm actually re-learning the things I should've paid attention to in school. It gives me a lot to think about when I watch that t.v. show Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader and all I can think is no, but I'm older......

Yes I do but I find some programs are filled with untruths, and they do not replace a good historical document,or book.
