Hi, I just finished my freshman year of college and for some reason, I'm very concerned about my grades. The fall semester, I received a 2.2 GPA which really hurt me even though it was the beginning of my college experience. However, this semester, I improved dramatically and I'm thinking i might be getting a 2.9-3.0 GPA. My concern is that will Pharmacy schools (I'm a pre-pharmacy major btw) look at my freshman GPA as a bad thing? I guess i'm overreacting but I am also taking a summer course this year so I can get into a higher class next semester (chemistry). I'd really appreciate it if i received positive comments. Thanks :)

Yes and no. They do look at your overall GPA, and certain parts of it. They will look at your prereq GPA, your science GPA, etc. To even to be considered for pharmacy, you need a 3.0. If you get better grades next year, GPA in the neighborhood of 3.5, you'll have nothing to worry about.

Yep, agree with mkamph23. Since overall GPA would show how much you have worked AFTER your disastrous fall semester points, they would take that into consideration. Good luck in your quest of being a Pharmacist (or any related jobs to Pharmacy!)

I don't think so. They pretty much will look at your overall GPA and major GPA. If they do look at individual semester GPA, they can see that it was your first semester and that you improved a great deal since then. I wouldn't worry at all.
