if you want to stay on the Strip then it will be more expensive in June as it is summer vacation time, but if you can stay away from the Strip check out the Sunset Station. It's a great hotel with a casino and it's fairly new and the prices are quite reasonable. Hire a car and you are 15 minutes away from the Strip but book in advance to get the best prices. Check out their website stationcasinos.com. I go to Vegas twice a year and I have stayed at pretty much all the hotels on and off the Strip. Hope this helped. Good luck.

The towers at the Luxor are awesome! If you avoid Friday and Saturday nights, June 11-13 and June 27-28, you can stay for under $90/night! That's WELL worth the money! Go to http://click.mgg01.net/t/3944940/37921468/12334085/0/ or call 888.777.0188 and use code LDNON7 to get these rates.

Check out the Flamingo Hotel. I don't remember what the room rate was, but when we went to Vegas, we were on a budget, so it could not have been too expensive. It is a nice hotel and is also located right in the middle of the strip, so it is convenient to get to anywhere on the strip. Good luck !

You obviously have lots of options. With it being June, a lot of people will avoid going to Vegas simply because of the heat (it gets over 100 almost every day), but conventions may often wander through town. If you go when there is not a big convention, you will find a lot of good rates.
Now, what do you define as a nice place? Do you want a place with lot of ammenities? Do you want to be near to everything? Are you looking to get away from the crowds? Or are you looking to simply have a clean place to lay your head?
Places like The Mirage, TI, Bellagio, Wynn, and Ceasars are very nice, but probably out of your price range (those are places one stays at to splurdge, not to be thrifty).
Places like Imperial Palace, Casino Royale, Bills Gamblin' Hall, and Circus Circus are modest places right in the center of the strip (except Circus Circus, that is on the north end). I have stayed at the IP before. And it is a nice place if you just want a place to sleep. I have heard some horror stories about bath tubs backing up, but I think those were rare and have since been fixed. You can find a place there for $50-$80 a night.
Excalibur, New York New York, and Luxor are family friendly and right by other family friendly places. They run for about $100 a night at a good price.
The Tropicana has been offering a lot of deals for the summer. They are more old school (gambling, lounge singers, variety shows) than the rest of the Strip, unfortunatly, most of the property shows its age. Things still run, but you can tell the place is out of date.
If you really want to save money, you can try staying downtown. Fitzgeralds is always a safe place to stay. The Plaza, Las Vegas Club, and Golden Gate are very cheap. They are all no frills hotels. A lot like staying at a Holiday Inn, except there is a casino down stairs. You can find rooms for $40 a night.
Whatever you do, stay away from the Gold Spike. You will find the best deals there, but the place is downright scary (drug dealers, homeless drunks, etc).
There are a number of places off strip. The Rio, Palms, and Hard Rock are upscale places that are doing quite well. A room there will cost $100+ a night. They do offer a shuttle to take you to the strip, however, you may have to wait a while for it. The Hard Rock has one of the best pools you will ever see.
There are plenty of low scale off strip places. Most people I have talked to have said they liked staying there. Clean rooms, nothing fancy, and away from the crowds. You can find a room there for $30-$50 a night.
If you do stay off strip to save money, be careful not to spend your savings on transportation. Most people prefer spending time on the Strip. There is a lot to see there. If you stay off strip, you are pretty much confined to your hotel for fun. Cab fare to and from most off strip places and Downtown will cost you at least $10 each way. Car rental will be $50-$200 a day. You can take a bus from Downtown to the Strip for $2 each way or $5 for a 24 hour pass. If you don't mind waiting for a shuttle, those are free, but they usually only run every half hour.
If you want to save money and just want a cheap place to stay, I would reccommend staying Downtown (Fitzgeralds, or any place on Fremont St). You can buy your bus pass as you get on the bus. If you don't want to wait for busses or shuttles, then stay at the Imperial Palace, Riviera, Circus Circus, or Tropicana. If you will be spending time away from the resort areas, then stay off strip. If $100 a night is your idea of cheap, then stay at the Luxor, Excalibor, Bally's, Planet Hollywood, Flamingo, or New York New York.
Some other ways to save money is to go to each casino's web site and sign up for the e-mail newsletter. Many places have internet only deals. Avoid going there when there is a major convention. If you see any date that has an unusually high price for a room, it is probably because of a big convention (or a boxing match). CHeck out your travel agents. Some specialize in Vegas packages and can get better deals than what you find on the net.

We stayed at the Tropicana- it was just like any other hotel room I've stayed at. It should be a reasonable price even in June. Stay away from Circus Circus- not worth the headache. It is a rather confusing but cheap hotel.

My friend and I stayed at the Silverton last summer and we really loved it. It isn't on the strip (like maybe 10 minutes away) but they do have a free shuttle to take you to the strip. The prices were great, and the Casino was very nice. The beds that they have were also really, really nice (they have the exact same pillow top beds as the Bellagio).
Here is the website if you want to check it out:

Have fun on your trip!

I don't recommend staying downtown unless it's a major Freemont Street casino. The other places are flea bag, roach motels.
Your best bet is to stay off the strip at a local casino like Station Casinos (there are about nine of them around town).

Try Downtown on Fremont street.....The Fitzgerald or 4 queens....or even the Plaza, not quite as fancy as the strip, but usually a whole lot cheaper...You can Taxi to the strip on the $$ you save on the room! I prefer "Downtown:" to the strip, but definitely plan to spend a day on the strip when you go, if you've never been before!
