I don't know, mate. And to be honest I don't invest a lot of time worrying about what people who do not matter to me may think about me. If a person's mind is made up that they're going to hate you, why bother trying to dissuade them? It's a wasted effort and an exercise in futility.

I don't blame religion. I come from Europe, from an area that is dominated by Catholicism, and now it's more accepting LGBT people than my current home of Canada, which is nuts.
What I might blame might be world war 2 actually. Before it appearantly LGBT people were becoming more accepted in places. After the war though there were the nuclear families in the USA, and it was drilled into people that heterosexuality and family were the it thing. Religion merely amplified it, because somehow people hoped Christianity would save them, I dunno.
Then come the boomers, wham, giant population boom, with them came tidal change, in every sector, because there were more people generally, so minorities now had more numbers and so on. They pushed for drastic change and got it.
Now fast forward to today, and it seems that somehow in the USA because the government is so conservative, it's being reflected in the people, so there's that push back, people wanting to go back to more innocent times, and they're blaming the changes for all their worries.
I guess the war brought on change, and now there's a backlash against the change.
Anyways I'm done blabbing, just a dumb theory.
But I will add, a good Christian is full of love, not hate. It's anti-gay individuals who use the bible as a weapon, not Christians. Religion doesn't make someone bad, it asks them to be good. It teaches acceptance of everyone, not conformity. It seems only in the USA is religion so militant, it's almost taking on a Taliban tone now, it's sort of creepy to those that don't live there.

I would believe that to be true. I personally do not believe in the idea of following any particular religion.
I believe that people are too into what they think to be true or almighty, or whatever the case may be. Of course not all people are by the book Christians or Catholics, for example. But the fact that they believe that "God" deems it to be wrong, they also believe that GLBT should be struck down as well. (Perhaps not to that extent, but I'm sure you know what I mean).
I am a straight female, and I can't comprehend why people can't just adopt the idea that ALL PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT. Whether you're gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, you should be accepted for who you are. The sad truth is some people are just plain ignorant. I mean, what is so wrong if you're a woman who wants to be with another woman? Or a man to a man, what is the difference? People are people regardless of their sexual preference, and should be accepted. It's nice to see that some states are finally allowing partnerships. If we could just get the rest to jump on the proverbial bandwagon - perhaps even allow marriages of same sex.

I myself do not blame religion. I blame the false interpretation of religion by people. I believe the people that condemn due to religious beliefs are the ones that only believe the parts they want. An example would be the guys who think all f*gs should die, but its okay to go home and beat their wives. They are ignorant of what they are hating.
Religions are based on love. It is the people that do not understand their own thoughts and beliefs that make it hate-filled.

That is without a doubt the reason people are against homosexuality. Very odd since religion is supposedly so based on love and acceptance.

Yes, I blame religion.
I'd also like to know where all these hateful people are living that they see all homosexuals flaunting themselves, making out in public, and having pride parades every day. I've been all over the U.S. and I've never lived in, visited or even seen on TV a place where gay people are that prominent.
I never.. EVER.. see or hear about other gay people shoving their beliefs down anyone's throat. I only see it here because they come into our section and provoke us, attack us, so we only push back in defense.

Hey my deal is this, do what ever you want to whom ever you want as long as every one involved is ok with it. Religion has no need to be on my prick, in my bedroom, on my money, in my politics, or food. The entire deal is used to control weak and feebile people and get money out of them it is a bussiness. Any one who thinks I'm full of crap just answer this one question. Why is the big money religion always tax exempt? Answer that one. Why does God need fancy golden cups and stained glass windows? It's all showy Bull s h i t, and it was designed to oppress everyone and allow the church and the king to controll people even when they had nothing to loose, because even poor people were afraid to be tourtured for ever when they die.

I agree with you. I believe that religion is at least part of the reason why people believe homosexuality is evil and wrong.

I have to concur with myavatara with his point about false interpretation of religion. most people who are religious are good people. then there are those who re-translate, quote out of context, and simply "use" religion to justify bigotry. and hate. and violence. and war. no real Christian preaches hatred and intolerance or passes judgment on others.
no church (nor the government) have any business trying to dictate who 2 consenting, unrelated adults love. whether it's sexual orientation, race, religion or culture. what happens in our bedrooms, no matter who we are, is OUR business.
