Yes several times. Never for really doing that much ... just taking a few minutes to care, I guess.
A lot of people get really nasty answers to their question, and they can get pretty grateful to the one person who said something nice instead.

I recently read an article that a soldier wrote about his trip home for some R&R. I was amazed at how our people went to the airports, and applauded these soldiers whom they never even met before. The airport fire services gave the plane a wash down to greet the troops. Other people gave up their first class seats for them. And it went on about how our people here in this great country showed appreciation. I sent him an E-mail telling him what a great story it was, and told him how almost everybody here was behind them. He replied how much that letter meant to him, and other troops love getting them also. When he returns to the states, I'm having him and his family as my special guests on my Tram tour at Yosemite.
