Think about it, wouldn't it be easier to be married for periods of say 5 years? At the end of 5 years, you could continue for another 5 or just say "nah, see ya later."

Then we wouldn't need lawyers. We could sit down with our newly divorced spouse and split up the stuff and just move on.

Leases are for material things, and are you say-
ing a wife or husband is a material thing. Marriage
is something special between two people and is
supposed to be a sacred thing, especially if you
get married in a church. When two people truly
love each other, are responsible, and committed
then leases are not an option as they want to be
with each other as long as they shall live, divorces
are plenty enough that leases are not needed be-
cause people break their vows before a five year
period anyway so making a marriage leaseable
would destroy the meaning of marriage and that
is being done already by a lot of people involved.

Marriage is choosing your partner for life and choosing the father/mother of your future children and it should not be taken lightly. It shouldnt be anything like a "car lease" and that is what is wrong with the world now, that people can go into a marriage and think that if it doesnt work out they can just go get a divorce.

That is a very cold question. However giving today's young it is very much warranted. During marriage you accumulate more than things. You have bills and the most important, Children. I think divorce comes to easily when it is not warranted and not easy enough when there is a true reason. Spouse abuse. I went through hell trying to divorce my x. We were married for nine years when we lost our first child we both lost our minds and blamed each other. I turned my anger and hurt inward and almost dieted myself to death, and he turned to drinking. Drinking turned to anger and then his hands found the mark. He has grown up and now is able to have unsupervised visits. Of course that was 10 years ago or more. We need people that understand you marry someone for who and what they are not for who you can change them into.

Well if marriage wasn't such a deep religious affair then I would say that is a good idea but the trusth is marriage is a religious institution and people shouldn't enter it lightly. In fact if you don't believe in religion you really shouldn't be getting married at all.

if that's your stand, then why do you need to get married? what becomes the purpose of marriage then? don't get married anymore. i believe it's better to stay in the relationship "as long as you want to" and "not because you have to,"

No, it would be cheaper to keep her! If you traded or just got out, you would have to fix her up just so someone else will lease her then. Just stay with her and keep making payments. : )
