Everything is plugged up so what exactly would I need to fix?

what kind of connection are you using???
if it needs electricity, maybe you plugged the connection late after you opened your laptop..
in other words, restart your laptop...

It's possible there is a break in the cable or a driver is needed for one of the network cards on one of the computers.

Is it unplugged on the router or modem itself? If so, you may want to check connections. Also, you may want to be sure that you don't have any wireless cards turned on or anything if you're hardwired in.

you could try resetting your router, by turning it off for like 15 seconds and see if that helps
