Inversely proportional? You mean that happiness in marriage is not measured by the size of your diamond ring or the square footage of your house, right?
Well, I believe it's true. It's not the material things that counts the most but the relationship itself. Marriage should be founded on mutual respect, common interest, shared values and genuine friendship.
Also, somebody said that "love consists not merely of gazing at each other, but looking together in the same direction."
However, i also believe the saying "when the stomach hurts, love flies out of the window."
Put them all together and that's what marriage is or what it should be.

Well this is something. It can not be true because the visible signs of wealth will not paint the true picture of any marriage. Many people judge the happiness in marriages with that way of thinking.
That is why it is very hard for most people to accept when certain marriages ends. Especially when it seems like the couple have it all, they ask what could they really want ?what could be their problem? And some would even say if I was him/her I would have done this or that to make things work because of the visible signs of wealth.
Remember money is not the only thing that makes people happy.
Rich couples have the same issues like everybody else even money problems. Ha!

Apparently you people don't understand what INVERSELY means. The statement simply says people with smaller diamond rings and smaller houses have happier marriages.
Not sure if that's true or not. Prolly.

I doubt it, look at the rock the Richard Burton gave Elizabeth Taylor. That marriage didn't last long either.

No.
But a person's relationship with money and material items can ruin their marriage. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best, as long as it is in your budget, and you aren't sacrificing your relationship working long hours to get it.
