Is it good for your home network? Sure, it wont blow it up or anything..

But is it needed? No I dont think so. Unless you think someone in your house is doing something they should not and you can afford it then go for it.
Or if you just want to play with one and feel like a network admin that would be kool to......

If you're having a problem or suspect illicit traffic on it, sure! What better way to trouble-shoot those kinds of problems.

If you can afford it, get it and knock yourself out!
