It's all in what you like. I personally have my days where it's all I want to listen to, and other days where if rap comes on I immediately change the radio station or click the little arrow on my iPod. If you really listen to the lyrics they're pretty vulgar, (like the Ben Folds Five song B****** and S***, where they're making fun of a rap song by singing it slow), so I guess I just listen to it because of the beat, and since the guys only say like 4 words, the songs are catchy! =P

I like rappers that have actual talent like Rakim and Mos Def. I think a lot of the rap on the radio today is manufactured and terrible. They all sample the same beats, they all promote and glamorize being a thug, and there are few real artists anymore. I prefer music that is more original and creative.

yes... but it depends on what you like. for me... i was born in the late 80s so i grew up listening to hood rap and yenno the stuff out now is definitely not like the songs in the early 90s. back in the day, rap songs had true meaning to them and thats what i loved about it. these days its all about being a gangsta and having money and cars and whatever. but the good thing about it is that a lot of artists these days are creative and put out dope beats to make up for the whack lyrics. i like artists like tupac, nas, talib kwali, common, lupe fiasco, mos def... etc.. lyrical geniuses who make rap more than just a good beat to listen to in the car.

the "idea" of rap is good. i like the way presenting their thoughts and experiences. its kind of poetic. but they totally destroy the creativity, passion, and potential with their lyrics. guns... hoes ...crunk... 20's... d's... what?...yeah... ok... tootsie roll... drop it like its hot...

.... enough said. A lot of ppl dont like how metalcore, hardcore,black metal, deathmetal, etc bands present their music but theres so much more passion and lyrically some bands just blow me away. music to me is an art. and skeet skeet skeet doesnt seem to entertaining.

ill admit tho there are some songs i like. and some i find entertaining. but rap will never be somethingt o me like various rock genres.

but of course this is just my opinion.
