i have problems with my pc. it started when our pc expert(i dont know, but my parents trust him, even thought he didn't study computer stuff) re-formated our pc, then installed a new graphics accelerator card, a new Ram, sound card(i think) and accessories. Then my pc became slow, i can't do what i usually do. I usually open my YM, 2 internet explorers... but now, i can only open 1 of them, i can open two, but it is so slow, that i need to exit one of the program. And one thing, in My computer properties, i checked my RAM, and it said 256MB, but the person who fixed my PC said that it was 512MB, how did it affected my pc? And i play internet games also, and it affected my gaming experience real great, that i have to quit the game for 1 week coz i'm having trouble with it also. AND ANOTHER ONE, when i placed the connection to my sister's laptop, the game run smoothly, but when i ran it in my pc, it was, rubbish? pls help!

its possible that the ram is not seated properly.
he may have inadvertently touched it, or not seated it properly..

see if you can take it out, and put it back in.

you say he reformatted it ?

did all the drivers get re-installed ?

use the control panel, and go to SYSTEM /DEVICE MANAGER
and see if there are any yellow question marks.

also, look in your startup, and disable any programs that you dont need.

you can use hijack this

also make sure that you have all the windows updates installed.

Yes, your RAM is not enough. 512Mb is better but 1Gb is great especially for gaming. Post your graphics card model so that we may be able to comment also. It might be a Turbocache model that is sharing w/ system RAM. Click Start, click Run then type dxdiag, OK. Click Display tab and you will see your graphics device.
For the meantime, try going into BIOS then load fail-safe defaults, save and exit. Also play your games at lower resolution and 16bit color mode. These can be adjusted under display properties.

Ahh, it is primarily caused by the RAM.

You say Windows say you have 256 and your friend claims it has 512? Probably one of the RAMS has becore loose or something. You may need to replug it to see.

Are you knowledgable about removing inputting RAM? If you aren't I maybe able to help, just contact me thru Yahoo Messenger, I would be glad to help. =)

Show this to the person who worked on your computer, especially the memory registered as opposed to what he says is installed. And tell your parents not to rely on amateurs.
