We can spend billions of dollars on a declining war, but we can not stop 25-50% of our inmates from getting raped.
It is amazing we haven't done more for prison rape in this day and age. It is spreading HIV largely among our prison population, and these people are spreading it when they get out. Not only is it a large part of the AIDS epidemic, it is destroying many of these prisoner's emotionally, making them more angry at society and more emotionally disturbed than they were before, making them a huge threat to commit worse crimes.

While I agree with you, the public has no sympathy for our prison population in general. This argument falls on deaf ears. A larger concern is the profileration of Islamic converts in prison.

The prison system in the US is VERY nice compared to the 3rd world nations. Even Europe has some questionable prisons.
Hay! be my guest, move to some hell hole 3rd world country and then ask why you aren't getting the same benefits as you did in the US, Can we say "political prisoner"? Can we say "Disappeared with out a trace"?? Can we say "Mass burial"???
Hell I'm all for going the Chinese way, Shoot the bastards and charge the family for the bullet.
Or we can isolate them all, sensory deprivation. a 6x6 hole in the wall with no human contact till the are set free. You solve your rape problem and if(when) the turn psycho, the parole hearing won't let them out.
If you think these two solutions are over dramatic! Guess what?! This is exactly what goes one outside the US.. AND MUCH WORSE.

As holds true outside of prison, rape is a crime of power, not sex. Guys in prison are not usually motivated to rape other men for sexual gratification, but more so for the power is gives them over their victims. Sure they get off in the process, but it's basically an intimidation tactic used by inmates to control others, and have them be submissive. I agree that prisons should do more to stop this, but I'm sure that it's difficult to monitor with prison populations as large as they are.

Bleeding hearts in this country have given prisoners so many luxuries in the name of humanity that going to prison is no longer viewed as a bad thing. Prison rape is one of the only deterrents to committing a crime and going to prison that is left. Unfortunately for the bleeding hearts, they cannot control what the prisoners do to other prisoners. Crime rates are steadily rising because no one minds getting caught and spending time in prison anymore, as long as you don't mind giving it up to Bubba.
But, you have got a semblance of a point. Instead of unleashing these angry people back into society, maybe we should keep them locked up for life.

Prison is not Camp Happy!! The majority of the people there are violent and unruly. They are there for these reasons. Evil is in these people and they do evil things. We have families who are starving because they make just a little more than the gov't allows. They can't apply for any social programs. The country is totally screwed.

this just pop in your head? good point just random. i think it has to do with the gaurds think of all of them as scum and as long as they r not hurting them they dont care. really what r those people suppose to do when that happens to them, they turn rat than they get beat up or worse. it does suck but its a great motivator to fly right and not put yourself into spots that will send u there.

1. I don't care who gets raped in prison. I'm sure they were just misunderstood gang members who just needed a hug.
2. No Women.
3. No Money. We spend it all on Welfare Fraud and "Clean Needles for Addicts" programs.
4. Money spent for "Free Condom" programs. (Do the kids even use them, or still make water baloons like we used to)?
5. Uh...maybe to spend it on people who DON'T commit crimes?
6. There are a lot of places I want my Tax Dollars to go to for our country, Protecting Bubba's Bung Hole isn't high on my list.
7. Did I say I didn't care?

Hmmm sounds logical.Would be motivation not to go to prison though.Did you get a ripped rump in the joint? Or someone you know got molested and gang raped in the shower?It is something to think about however.
