Bats have more powerful vision than man! A bat has many more rods in the retina than a human eye. A bat finds sunlight too scorching and hence closes its eyes in the day time. In the night, it is able to see because it finds the light much less and therefore opens the eye. It is another matter that they have a radar which picks up the returned supersonic squeaks.

because "blind as a bat" implies that the one being described as such is blind and cannot see anything

it is an inaccurate phrase because bats can see, but they see through echo location. That is in many ways more accurate than optical vision.

Why is it inaccurate? bats have poor vision, they have to rely on a form of (Radar) to fly around at night. Fortunately! they are very good at it. Have a good day.

are you sure that it is... who told you that....bat's can't see very well that's why they use echolocation. maybe it's incorrect because bat's CAN see, just not well at all. maybe the phrase should be blind as a rhino seeing rhinos can't see very well either.
