There's a difference between "stupid" and "made a bad choice and got stuck in a bad habit."
I've known brilliant people who smoke. Most of them have tried to quit many times. To me, "stupid" is the fact that people still START smoking in this era. The facts are so obvious and readily available that it baffles me why anyone would even think this is a good thing to try.
It stinks. It's expensive. It's a major health hazard not only for the smoker but for those nearby. It's a major cause of household fires. It makes your teeth yellow and your breath bad. It shortens your life. It is disgusting to see someone throw cigarette butts on the ground or to walk out of a building and see cigarette litter where all the smokers congregate--that is inconsiderate at the very least.
Ever moved into a house after a heavy smoker lived there? Spray window cleaner and you get orange streaks on the glass. You have to seal walls with primer before painting to get the odor out. Carpets have to be replaced. It gets expensive.
If you smoke, you shorten your life and the people who love you are cheated from extra time with you. Sad.

The outrageous price of cigarettes in certain places could be used, the fact that they know they're going to eventually going to get cancer and refuse to think THEY will. The fact that after smoking just about a pack the average person becomes addicted.

For one, people who smoke aren't "stupid". They have just made some bad decisions. I am against smoking though, so here are some reasons why not to smoke. You can get lung cancer, breathing problems, yellow teeth, premature aging, and other medical problems.

Well, there are the statistics that prove that the average life span of smokers is significantly shorter, but this of course leaves open the question posed by Winston Churchill, "Why should I forego things which give my life such pleasure for a mess of dotage?"

I believe that one reason is that if you buy cigarettes and use them correctly (as intended) you WILL get cancer and die.
so you could say it is one of the few things in the world that if done correctly as labeled will lead to a certainity of death.
**what find stupid is that these peopel who killing themselves slowly set so many goalsin life. why do these people set these goals, knowing they will never get a chance to complete them. I think that is stupid**
