Can anyone explains this? How come its not as long as the NBA, NFL or MLB?

Football games are much more physically draining for all the players than MLB or NBA games. It isn't reasonable to expect these guys to be able to bash the daylights out of each other more than once per week.

Football always has the fewest games. Its too hard on the player to do more than one game a week plus there is more strategy that needs to be learned each week than other sports. If the NFL had a similar schedule to that of the NBA and had 82 games like the NBA no players would make it through the season healthy except for maybe the kicker and punter. They would need much more than a 53 man roster as well. Football is too physically demanding to play that many games. If the NFL season had as many games as MLB people would die.

3 reasons
1. Too physically draining, after 8 seasons in the NFL some players have more injuries than they can count.
2. If the NFL went any late it would be too hot to play and players would overheat.
3. During the 16 games (17 weeks) the NFL has games no other sport competes with it. (maybe 1 or 2 that aren't nearly as popular.)

If it was as long as NBA and MLB we would have guys retiring after 3 seasons...its to much for the players to take on, the nfl has just the right amount of games..they are considering adding 1 more tho.

Why the NFL is not as long as the NFL? You mean the NHL? Whatever. The reason is because it is a contact sport unlike the others. The other sports you can play as long as you want without getting torn up, but football takes alot out of you. You get hit hard about 80 times a night for sixteen games, maybe twenty if you go to the big game. A regular season consists of your body getting hit 1280 times, and hard hits. That takes alot out of you if you have not played football and unaware.

I'm assuming that you've never played football on any kind of level above Madden '0-whatever on your Playstation. Football is probably the most physically demanding sport there is! It centers on pounding each other into oblivion. It is extremely taxing on the body. That's why each team only has one game a week, to let their bodies heal up before the next game. If the season where any longer you'd start to see players falling over dead on the field! Besides, the season is 6 months long including playoffs! How long to you want it to be?

NFL has more physical, endurance games. needing a week to rest and for practice. therefore there is only 16 games in the season.

Football is a violent game that cuts years off its players lives... they can't physically play a 50 plus game season

do you even watch football? it's a BRUTAL sport. every week someone breaks a leg, arm, hand, finger, tears an acl, mcl, pcl, gets a concussion, pulls a hamstring or a groin. the list is endless. if the season was any longer there wouldn't be any players left in the game.

Uh...Because it is a contact sport...more physical...You can't really have an 80 or 160 game football season...Full teams would be injured...
