Image is every thing in politics. Even Obama tries to downplay his his Islamic past to some degree. He would never have stood a chance in '04. I'm not saying I agree with this train of thought. It's just the reality we live in.
Clinton wasn't a great leader, but he had real appeal to the poor and under privileged. He also played on the hearts of the middle class, Now they seem to se him as some kind of God.
I don't get it. Our leaders should be chosen for their potential benefits to our country. Not because they look good on TV.
Imagine trying to run against a Kennedy in Boston.
