Today after I was home from work I decided to take my 1983 Buick Riviera for a short ride. For some reason the brakes seemed to be stuck. After I finished my very short ride I noticed white smoke comming from my front right tire, and the tire was very very hot. What might the problem be?

It doesn't pay to rebuild or try to free up sticking calipers. You can get must @ local parts stores. And it is recommended to replace in pairs both front or both rear. Purge the brake line with new fluid and refill with new good quality fluid not some that has been sitting in the garage for a year or so. You may need a helper to push the brake pedal to bleed the lines.

It probably is the right front brake hose. The rubber has swelled on the inside of the hose and is trapping pressure in the caliper and holding the brake on. If you want to test this yourself all you need is a wrench that fits the bleeder valve. Press your brake pedal and see if the brake stays on. Set the park brake and turn the wheels to the left. You should be able to see the bleeder valve. Turn the valve ccw with the wrench about 1/2 turn then close it. Without stepping on the brake pedal, start car and put in drive and see if car moves freely. If it does, replace both front brake hoses. If it is still locked up, replace both front calipers and brake hoses.
