Yes. Class is only partly due to income, it also depends on how you earn your income. Harvard professors are considered to belong to the same social class although some have much greater income than average if they have written a successful text book. It is also a function of tastes and education and in varying degrees family, depending on the country.

Absolutely.
But not for the reason some think. Without education, social connections, access to power, etc. it is a much more difficult road to gaining wealth than it is if you have these advantages.

Now if you take away all THESE advantages, some will have a great competitive streak and others and will not... I think the nouveau riche from this situation might be surprising.

Then the whole circle would start again... the kids of those who didn't do well would by and large start at a disadvantage and not as many of them would move up the class scale. Again the real cream of capitalism would never get much of a chance.

Peace

Edit: I remember Warren Buffet talking about wealth and luck, you may have to have that ability, but without some luck, you may never get far

I have asked this question of some of the richest people in the world and the answer is always the same. the rich would get it back in record time and the poor would lose it in record time with a few exceptions. You have to realize the rich are rich because they are aggressive, hard working, manipulate oppurtunity to theiradvantage and make few mistakes. Have you ever seen how many lottery winners still have millions after 5 years? 3%. The ones that were rich already. Do you know how many rich people have been broke at least one and usually twice in their career? I think it is like 80%. So those who are rich have been broke at some point and came out of it. those who have become wealthy usually make mistakes and lose the money.

It depends how it got to the point where everyone had the same amount of money. If we just took all the world's money and redistributed it evenly, then there would certainly still be classes because some people would still have more assets (things they own other than money, such as land and cars and houses and so on) than others and would soon have more money as well.

Yes, there would still be many clases: First, the fools class of those who work hard to earn livelihood and the wiser class of those who do not have to work for their livelihood. There would be black money and black economy. SO there would be another two classes: black economy and black money dependent class and another the ordinary class.

In one week there would be rich people and poor people! and in one year it would be back to normal. Have a good day.
