I am thinking of investing in a trailer/camper (to tow) and I want to know if they are worth it or just a money pit. Is it better to invest in a cabin? or camper? if camper, which kind? (I would never buy used...that is just gross to me with the beds and all). How much does it cost to maintain a camper? When is the best time to buy one?

I have two toddlers, 1.5 and 3yo...so I would need something with at least 3 beds...med sized I guess.

Also, what age should my kids be before they are ok to take camping?

Sorry this is so choppy...thinking as I am typing!

Well, I would imagine you already know the bonus of having one, being that you are interested. One thing you have to keep in mind is storing it. In my city, you can't keep them at your house. Most cities don't allow it. So you would have to pay to keep it somewhere. My mom and dad take all the grandkids camping every year. They have a good rule. If they are potty trained, they can go.

If you buy the right one they can be an easy way of getting around your country ans enjoying seeing it . Campers are best for say up to 4 weeks at one time it gets a bit tiring if you are traveling day after day with nightly set ups With children its important to set in place strict rules and some extra safety devices such as side panels on end beds so a child could not slip through to the ground outside. Strict rules when cooking inside. We have camped for 45 of our 45 years married and I say they are the best if you are young and fit we had a Jayco here in Australia Pull out end beds plenty of room and we sold it for $1500 more than we paid for it 14 years later. Good Luck If you want to know more make me your contact and I will give you my email.Over those 45 years we have had 2 caravans 1 camper and one camper bus and 2 motor bikes on a trailer.~~

You should have a great deal of experience towing prior to buying a camper trailer. If you have no experience in towing a trailer do not buy one to practice with. It would be a waste of money. Invest in a cabin, dodge a bullet.
