I own a Dodge Ram truck and the check gages light came on. I have no idea what it means. When it turns on, the oil needle goes all the way to 0.

It means that you need to check all the gauges such as the check engine, brakes, and others. Also, you probably need to refill the oil

Usually you have either low fluids or no fluids. If its not a check engine light, it most likely isn't a mechanical/computer to triggar it. If it smells bad, and the light is on, it's either fuel or oil. If its a nasty smell, its probally burning oil. Which means you have an oil leak, and that could triggar the check gages light. Check the oil temp. Best bet, don't drive the car, have a mechanic look at it. Cross your fingers, and be ready to pay a bill.

You should get the vehicles computer scanned and check for any problems as well as codes and then you will have a good idea on what the problem truly is.

Try finding an independent shop instead of the dealer or a chain store because you will be overall more pleased with the findings and the service.

Well, I don't mean to state the obvious but check gauges light means YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR GAUGES, DUH!!!!

If your oil pressure gauge is sticking @ 0 then you could be destroying your engine. I'll say this too because you need the obvious stated: WITHOUT OIL OR OIL PRESSURE THE ENGINE IS NOT BEING LUBRICATED PROPERLY.

Check your dip stick to see if you even have oil (if you can even manage). O, ya it might even say "oil" on it for ya.
If its empty then get some oil and put it in.

If it has oil then don't drive it, get it to the shop you might have screwed up the oil sump seals.

It means there might be a problem in the motor, and to check this situation. Hence, "check engine light".

It means that you lost oil pressure or the sensor or wire went bad. If you lost pressure and didn't shut off the engine right away you probably have a fried engine.
