Well, many people see immigration as a bad thing, and many see it as a good thing here in the UK. I think it depends on what the immigrants can contribute to the country and society.
Personally, I am for immigration IF the person can contribute to society and England, as well as adapt to our society. I respect their views, but many need to learn the language before coming over.

Yes it is thought about a lot in the UK, both legal and illegal immigration. On the legal side a reported 600,000 Polish citizens alone have immigrated to the UK over the past 4 - 5 years. That is a lot of people, and puts a strain on the entire infrastructure of the country. It has both good and bad side effect, and as a whole it has boosted the economy immensely.
Illegal immigration is also widely thought about in the UK, and it causes the same type of problems that are being seen in the US - recently (in the last week) there was a March through London by illegal immigrants demanding that they be given citizenship - this I can not agree with, either come in legally or go home!
The UK has always had pretty open borders, due to our Empirical heritage, when we owned (ruled/governed) a large portion of the world, India, huge trenches of Asia, large portions of Africa, Australia, NZ (not to mention the America's), once the countries obtained independence, either through war or peaceful transactions, the peoples of those countries were given limited rights to enter and immigrate to the UK, legally, due to previously being part of the British Empire. So this has led to the UK being a multicultural country, with all the benefits and disadvantages that this includes.

Because in the last 5 years or more there has been a lot of immigration from people form Eastern Europe & other parts of the world, so basically its ticked off a lot of native people including the immigrants who came here in the 1950s, 60s & their next generation, from those days up untill this last decade there wasnt much immigration, migration, but now as i said in the last 5 years & decade lots of people have come from all over manily Easter Europe & have been taking the jobs from the people who are born & bread in the UK, they claim benefits (free money if you dont work) & some abuse the system, bascially UK is not how it use to be, the native English people are actually migrating now to places like the US, Austrailia amongst others because they tired of this influx, its really out of control now, the goverment cant control their own country anymore, its even been said in 5 years time the dominant relgion in England would be Catholic, leaping above Protestant & Islam, so thats speaks for itself, i personaly dont have any problem with immigrants if they are better off here then their own country who treat them bad & in uncivilised way, are law abiding citizens, integrate, are open minded, work hard to make a living for themselves & other things, so it dont bother me, but you can understand why its such a big issue & PROBLEM in the UK now.

Our problem is that we just don't know who is in the country anymore. Since we have joined the European union if someone comes here to work, they tend to bring all 7 of his brothers and sisters every distant relation they can cram into the boot of a 15 year old Toyota! Then all they say is that they are going to be killed if they return and "hey presto" instant benefits.
Too many of them are hiding behind the Human rights act. Well I believe that if something is not done about this useless piece of legislation then things will definitely get worse before they get better. We now have towns where the immigrants are the majority and schools are teaching Urdu as a second language instead of french or German.

Well, I think you should clarify a little. What's controversial in the States now is *illegal* immigration and the movement to just say "meh, whatever" and spit in the faces of the millions of immigrants who played by the rules and came here legally. Don't be confused. Just because all these rallies are reported as "immigration rallies" doesn't mean they aren't really "to hell with your laws, we're only here for the money!" rallies.

I feel people should have the right to live where ever they want to live on this planet. Your ancestors where not native American i take it? There for your family was from immigrants too. Why should they have had the choice and others be denied it now?
I welcome anyone to our country and anyone is also free to leave our country to immigrate to others IE Canada, Australia, Dubai, New Zeland, France etc etc its a two way street. If no one is aloud to immigrate into the UK then no one should be aloud to immigrate out of the UK, simple as that.
We are all born on this earth and it is not owned by anyone. If i want to live in Iceland or Zimbabwe who has the right to tell me i cant?
America and the UK where build on the backs and sweat of immigrants after all.

Well speaking on behalf of most people I'd say they could give a flying toss!
In fact emigration is more likely to be on the minds of most people in the UK (those who aren't immigrants -- that is)

I don't mind immigration as long as they don't step out of line. I also feel if they do they and all their family should be sent home to their own countries. Because we have enough people in our jails as a matter of fact there over crowded and we cant really afford to keep them in jail. and if they knew what would happened I think it make a big difference.

well in America isn't it a fact you are all immigrants except American Indians who have no rights over their country.
every one will say how important family is to them well stick in the country you family are you cant make it a better place to live by running away. and then trying to make your new country the same as the place you left as it seams most immigrants do
