I don't think they're any more superstitious than some of the people way back in the Appalachians where I came from. I've seen some of those old folks, recently, who still think the way to cure a sore throat is, soak a rag in coal oil, sleep with it around your neck and then bury it out in the woods to get rid of the evil spirits. And that is one of the milder superstitutions back there.

Some are depending on what part of Louisiana you are in. Back woods folk tend to be wary of strangers. There are lots and lots of shops for tourist to buy potions. There are also places you or tourist will never see. Yea, it is easy to believe in magic when talking to someone that knows that they are the real thing. Better run through the jungle,now don't look back:)

some still are--the voodoo stuff was popular back in the slave days. if you go the the French Quarter in New Orleans you can find alot of shops with voodoo dolls, potions, etc..you should check it out--

I'm not really superstitious. I'm from Louisiana, and the only superstition I believe in is that LSU plays better football at night!
