Obviously the poor are a "burden" on society, but it is an inevitable burden to say the least. Even if we raise taxes on the rich our national deficit will ocntinue to grow...it will just be more money for the government to waste.

People who simply don't want to work, yet take, are a burden. I'm not rich, but not poor either....and I personally don't feel the need to keep supporting someone who refuses to do for themselves. People who are there by no fault of their own or circumstance who aspire to do better and try, I am willing to help. So, no, rich people would not be a burden.

poor people, government should help them to get wealthy and contribute more than they drain

the more wealthy you are, the more tax would you pay; Some people like bill gates are very beneficiary for the society although they are usually depicted as ruthless rich people who just count their money and don't give a damn about others

The people that hog all the resources.

If you were stuck in a lifeboat and one or two people had all the sandwiches and water and didn't share, who would you be the angriest with? Assuming the people swimming in sandwiches and bottled water claimed they had earned every one.
