I have a friend who cleans houses for extra money. She wants to know what is a reliable cleaner for a stainless steel refrigerator? It has some scratches on it and she wants to know if they can be removed or polished down a bit? Any suggestions?

I'd suggest first getting a stainless steel cleaner/polisher at Home Depot or Lowe's. That will make it look a lot better and get rid of any smudge marks. Then you can determine if the scratches really need to be buffed out, which would be a much harder job.

A cleaner for stainless steel products is available anywhere, but let me give you the secret.

Rub with the 'grain' on the panel you are getting the scratches out. You may have to look close to see the grain, but it's there.

This may be a big no- no but I've used rubbing alcohol and it worked great. Sure is a heck of a lot cheaper then a kit and great with stainless steel.

Take a sanding belt to it. 200 grit ought to do. If it's nickel 18-10 stainless. If it's mangenese stainless, try that bartenders friend cleaner.

God Bless

If it is truly a scratch you can lightly rub with 0000 steel wool bought at local home remodeling store, Home Depot, Lowe's.
