Yes, it's ok to go pee when you have a tampon in. The opening where the urine comes out is different from the one where the tampon is inserted. The string may get a bit wet but like the previous poster I tried to move it out of the way at times too most of the time. If the string gets wet it's ok because it will dry.
I no longer use tampons due to medical issues unrelated to the tampon itself.

It is o.k. to go pee when using a tampon but be careful not to get the string wet you can hold it to the side

it is perfectly ok to pee with a tampon in just hold the sting out of the way so it doesn't get wet the vagina and urine hole are seperate places

I did it for over 30 years, I think you will be safe. I always held the string to the side. Good luck !!
