Okay, I'm doing this project in school and I need to create a calendar for a planet that has 687 Earth days and it asks if I need to create a leap year, the planet is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees and if you need anything else just tell me...

If it has exactly 687 days then no. The reason that the Earth has leap years is because a year is about 365 1/4 days.

Earth days are not relevant to another planet. The calendar for your planet must be based on the days and years of your planet. A day is one rotation of the planet about its axis. A year is one revolution of the planet about the sun, or whatever star it orbits. If the year is a whole number of days, then no leap year is required. This practically never happens with real planets in real orbits, so your calendar probably will need a leap year.

Take 687 and divide by 4 to see if you can do 4 even seasons. You'll probably get a fraction. Take the fraction and figure out how many to have to add to get a whole number. The whole number is how many days you have in your leap year and how many fractions you had to add together tells you often you have a leap year.

the earth wouldnt even need a leap year if 2 kings hadnt gotten greedy and wanted a month named after each of them (july and august) it was originally only 10 months with the days in each alternating 30 then 31 and so on

leap year is about 365 and 1/4 and a year is about 365 days leap year only happens every 4 years
