MY friend's fiance is working illegally. They work 6 days a week, 12 hour days (except Sunday when they work 8 hours. They only get a a half-hour lunch break. Isn't it illegal for the boss to do this? How can she start getting payed normally and working normal hours? What should she do? Shoul her fiance hire a lawyer? she is paid less than US $8 dollars an hour. The boss also doesn't let her stay home when she is sick (she has been forced to work when she had the flu). Shouldn't her boss allow her to stay home if she is sick? what should her fiance do?
help!

The manager is not following U.S. Labor Laws. But if your friend's fiance is in country illegally, she'll be deported if she files a complaint. Maybe she can find another job.

Well yeah it does suck, but she can always quit and get another job someplace else. An $8/hr job may not be worth hiring a lawyer. Depending on the type of work it may be perfectly legal to work that many hours with that kind of a break (ie seasonal work). 68 hours a week really isn't excessive, I work roughly 75 and I am working sick today. But I like money and my bills paid so I came. It would easiest and fastest to just get a new job than spend the next year fighting through the legal system.

An company could have mandatory extra time hours and could make a guy or woman artwork 12 hour days (not actually "make") by making use of regulation a guy or woman ought to have a ten minute harm each and every 2 hours and a lunch harm in the event that they artwork extra advantageous than 6 hours. Your finace has the alternative of quitting -they won't make her artwork there if she doesnt want to!! many human beings are paid under $8 an hour that's now common. Boss ought to enable her have time without work for ailment with a docs word merely.

Is she on salary or is she hourly?

Hourly workers are subjected to the normal work labor hours as defined by your state.

as for sick days, in all reality, a job doesn't have to give her sick days (its not even in the Federal Labor Laws) - but if she works for a food service business, she would be bound by the rules of the Health Department for allowing a sick employee near food items and customers.

and if she is so miserable in her low paying job? hwy not quit and find another one?
