TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND MOST OF TIMES THEY WILL CHECK IT OUT FOR FREE AND IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE TIME LEAVE IT THERE FOR AWHILE, BUT DON'T TAKE IT TO THE DEALER OR ANY OF THOSE CHAIN STORES.

you know by the way this vehicle drives it isn't safe to be on the road..if you can't afford to repair it then don't drive it....there is a chance that you could lose control and hurt or even kill yourself or someone else.lower ball joints will fall off in turns or at low speed. it has already warn you that something is wrong.if this should happen, you will lose steering.[ you will need the front end alignment when the repair is done].... repairs is costly...it will differ for each repair place.it would be the best to have upper and lower ball joints on both sides replaced at the same time to have even ware. without that it would be wasting money on the alignment.....ask family to help you....you're looking at about 425-500 bucks for entire job depending on who repair it...sometimes your company will advance you for the repair of your ride just so you can get to work.....im sorry for your troubles but things will get better..you'll see.....wishing you well

i sell parts at a ford dealer. we sell more lower ball joints on those explorers than anything. Lowers are $40 each for the parts, not sure on the labor, but figure $88 an hour probably 2 hours of labor if thats what it is.

This car is not among those considered safe by any means.
They had constant problems with front wheel hubs - they fail to disengage from 4x4 mode. There could be something else but the technical term "funny" fits the description of driving in 4WD mode on dry pavement....

Unless you have funds to pay for six weeks in the hospital, fork over $50 for a front end inspection.

Go to your mechanic and have the tires balance, rotated, and probably a 4 wheel alignment done. Also have them inspect for defects or uneven tread on the tires.

There is no way to tell what is wrong without inspecting the front end. Best advice would be to take it somewhere and have it checked out. I wouldn't continue to drive it without knowing.

no, your wheels could easily stop working if the shifter is busted. you might not be able to turn. take this in to your local garage immediatley and im guessing around $250-$400.
