false eyelashes take some practice but theyre worth it! novelty lashes like hot pink ones are hardest to work with. for regular eyelashes: you can get different sets at any drug store. some come with glue or you can get a tube right there next to the lashes..i find that the strips are easier to work with and i like the glue better. but there are also individual lashes that have just a few lashes in each bunch and you put them where you want them but the glue is different and will tear your natural lashes if you dont use the solvent to remove them. i always go with Ardell brand glue. it sticks all day but doesnt pull my skin or real lashes when i take them off.
also to put them on: do your eye makeup first. cut the strip if its too long for your eye. then apply glue to the strip and wait about 25 seconds until the glue becomes sticky. grab them with some tweezers for better control until you get more practice and can use your fingers. look down into a mirror and use the tweezers to position the lashes as close to your lash line as possible. keep looking down into the mirror for maybe 20-30 seconds until the glue sets. and off you go!
heres a good idea of products: http://www.ballbeauty.com/ardell_false_eyelashes.htm

I wear false eyelashes and I have been known to rock 'em from Wal-Mart for cheap. I have used both singles and full. For the full I suggest you get some that aren't super full - get them kind of spaced out - the finer kind. Sometimes it is easier to use an applicator but I find that my fingers work fine. Just remember that you want to start on the outside corner and work your way in. Most glues dry clear. For the individual lashes I have found that adding 2 or 3 sets to the corners can give a nice effect. Have fun! I haven't had any fall off - in fact sometimes I find it difficult to pull them off so I have to use some type of eye make up remover.

Ardell 110's are the most Natural looking false eyelashes, They will make your lashes look thick and natural.
If this is your first time applying the lashes, Get the glue that will go on clear, not white, You dont want it to show.
You can find Ardell's at Sally's Beauty supply and (maybe) Walmart.
Good luck and Have Fun!

Here's a nice kit: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P141942&categoryId=B70
Look at the Dec. '06 issue of Allure for application tips & product recommendations.
Some people like Ardell lashes & cut them into clusters so they can place them strategically for special effects.

As long as you use enough glue, then they should be fine. The best glue is the white stuff from a little tube...the best eyelashes are at Kmart. They're cheap and good there, yeah I hate that store but they have the best selection.
