With all the retired Generals disagreeing with Bush's handling of the war, have they turned Liberal?

The Generals are career military and methinks they don't take kindly to the way Rummy and W have messed with our armed forces, or prosecuted this war. They are only speaking up now because they are patriots!

Well, they are retired generals, so they no longer no exactly what's really going on 'on the ground,' either. They do criticise Bush for not listening to the commanders in Iraq, and I'm guessing it's a valid crticism. It's not a crticism that requires a liberal motivation, though - one could be disapointed with the war because it's not being fought brutally enough to secure victory, for instance. That'd make you more fascist than liberal, but still against Bush.

Way to broad a brush, and it isn't All, just some, and some are politcally motivated, not to mention, I don't care who you are you are not going to put ten people into a room and have all of them agree. Look at all those that are sayiingthe surge isn't working when it is!

Perhaps they have realized something and that being liberal or conservative or somewhere in between has nothing to do with it. What they realized is that we have a mess that we are going to have trouble getting out of. It is going to cost more than lives and money but political careers too. When Generals are on active duty they take orders like any good soldiers and they keep their opinions to themselves unless specifically asked for and then choose their words carefully. After retirement they are free to say what they may have been thinking all along.

Neither. They are military men voicing their opinions. Are they really telling us something that the majority of Americans have not already discovered for themselves? I do find it almost remarkable that after all their years of service and experience, they have all come to the same conclusion. Soon there will be very few left standing with the President on Iraq. Republicans up for re-election are quickly approaching critical decision time, in my opinion, it's already too late for some.

Respectfully disagreeing and asking for open dialog on issues to come up with alternatives to the current situation is not liberal or conservative. This is how we work things out in this country.

well... a MAIN KEY here is... they don't even disagree with the war so much... as they are saying "it's been handled horribly and that's why things are so bad... and our advice has been ignored at every turn"

I mean, I don't really like the war personally, but if you're going to fight it... do it to win... which it seems no one in this administration seems to understand how to "win" in this type of situation... and ignore those who seem to have a clue...
