When the areas that would become the United States were colonized, the feudal system which had required the castles had been long gone, replaced by state mercantilism. Instead of many nobles all governing their fiefdoms from their castles, control of the area was centralized in the large cities, run by the emerging state bureaucracy.
Also, by the time the New World was colonized, gun and cannon technology had progressed to the point that armored garrisons, such as castles, had little to no real effect in repelling attacks.
Finally, the need for greater farmlands and fisheries was satisfied by the large expanse of "empty" land to the west, preventing armed land struggles, thus negating much of the need for armored fortresses.

Because we don't have royalty or monarchs here. The President has The White House, but not a castle. Castles and palaces are for kings and queens.

B/c back when people in Europe weer building the castles, United States was a wild west with Native Americans living in their huts. USA does not have as much of history as most European countries. It does not mean that it's not beautiful, it's just different.

I know of one.
Hearst Castle was the palatial estate of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. It is located near San Simeon, California, on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

we actually do have some castles. not nearly as many, but some.
There are a half-dozen along the Hudson River, at least one on the St. Lawrence, one on the lower Connecticut River and I think there's one in North Carolina.
