I've looked into zoo careers and have found that it's very difficult to get into a position where you're actually working with the animals. Most of the openings in zoos are for gift shop/food service positions. You might consider a career in Veterinary Technology. Veterinary technicians are like nurses for animals. If you get into a vet tech program, you may be able to intern at a zoo, which could lead to a permanent position.

Getting a job at a zoo can be hard. There are a lot more people wanting to become zookeepers than there are job openings for. If that is something you really want to do than go for it. I have read that if you want to be a zookeeper, than you almost always have to have a college degree in like zoology or animal behavior or something similar. You also should have experience working with animals as a volunteer or with a work experience program at a animal shelter, wildlife rehabilitation center, zoo or wildlife sanctuary.

If you really like animals, I'd say go for it! Like said before though, you may not be able to get a position right away, unless you have some type of training.
You may also want to consider being a veterinarian or veterinary technician or something around there. You will need to go to school for those positions, however, but the career may be a rewarding one, should those be your career path.
I wish you luck in whatever career you do choose to pursue.
