Why is Ben the leader of the Others when it seemed like Richard was the leader before when Ben was young? Ben only killed his own dad but the others killed all the Dharma Initiative people. And does anybody believe there is a real Jacob or did Ben stage the whole thing?

Richard obviously is a bigger player in this than we originally thought. Who is Richard and the other people who were already on the island? Why are they there? At first I thought Ben had a split personality, but then everything was flying in the room and only for a second, you could see someone sitting in the chair. I don't think Ben staged the whole thing, because it seemed he had somewhat of a fear of Jacob also, and he was very interested in what Locke heard Jacob say.
