4. An object(s) needed in the classroom. Last year one of my students disliked my stapler and promised me a nice one for Christmas. I begged him not to spend the money, but he did it anyway. Now, every time I use it, I think of Alex!

I think gift certificates are great. I'm a male high school teacher working in an elementary school. A gift certificate to a bookstore or even for a massage would be great by me! I love coffee and tea, so a gift basket with an assortment would also be nice. School supplies would be acceptable, too.

Having said that, I don't think parents should feel obliged to give a gift to their kid's teacher. Teaching is the profession I chose, and it wasn't to get gifts at the end of the year.Keep it simple and make it show appreciation.

Gift cards definitly. I think that gifts cards are a little impersonal sometimes, but your childs teacher is a hardworker. Giving them a gift that they get to choose is really nice. Especially at the end of the year when the stress is the worst. Getting a gift card to a restruant, salon, or even a store at the mall, is practical, thoughtful, and very much appreciated. When the summer time comes, the teacher has a nice treat waiting for them.

The best gift I've seen is the whole class pitching in for gift certificate. Most parents have other children so have each kid pitch in $2.00 or $3.00 dollars it doesn't break the bank price wise. And teachers don't care if its from a gas station a restaurant or a book store.

That the student shows they learned from the teacher. An average student pulling an A on a test.

Remember - you're teacher went into the profession because it's rewarding to see young minds learn. It's frustrating when you give lessons and see no results. So, reward your teacher and learn.

A physical gift... hmmmm.... a gift certifcate to a neighborhood bookstore.

I can think of a very good book about the subject that the teacher teaches or a subject that he or she is very interested in accompanied by a dedication and a card of course. The chances are that the teacher will always look at it and will automatically think of you.

Anti-bacterial stuff from bath and body works. I've gotten more expensive gifts from students, but that one was the most useful!
