why is my new 1gb ram installation causing automatic reboots and internet explorer to crash?

Just loaded 1gb kingston DDR pc2700 ram into my hp pavillion v5000. The system keeps rebooting suddenly, sometimes with a blue screen that disappears before I can reboot, sometimes with no notice. internet explorer keeps crashing too, shutting all open windows at that time. Any ideas?

Try "Load fail-safe defaults" in BIOS.

check to make shure your lap top can handle that much extra ram,just because it fits does not mean it will work..allthough i have never heard of that happening,usually it will not read the extra ram,check with the manufacturer and make shure your computer can handle that much more.
