Prenatal vitamins will not help you to conceive. However, it is recommended that you start taking them before you get pregnant. That ensure that you have a high enough level of folic acid throughout your entire pregnancy, which significantly reduces spinal cord malformations (namely spina bifida). If you don't take a prenatal vitamin prepregnancy, you should at least take a folic acid supplement. There are also a lot of foods that are high in folic acid, however the rate of absorption for a lot of foods (like leafy greans) is lower than taking a vitamin supplement.

Not directly. It is recommended to take prenatals when you are trying to conceive, as most cellular development occurs before the baby is 8 weeks. You will be supplying these precious nutrients to your baby from the first day of it's life!
If you are having a hard time conceiving, you may want to consider the possibility of nutritional deficiency. But a prenatal won't fix that!

Prenatal vitamins are recommended by doctors. They recommend you to start taking them up to 3 months before you plan on becoming pregnant until you are done nursing.
These are only vitamins, however and do not help the conception process. They only get your body ready for it.
