It drives me crazy that smokers have absolutely no concern for where they throw their cigarettes when they are done smoking them... out the window of their car... in the parking lot... in the sand at the beach...

Why do they feel that they should not be responsible for their butts ending up in a trash can or an ashtray?

And yet they wonder why non-smokers don't care when their product gets taxed, or when they get banned in public. Perhaps it has something to do with their lack of respect for those around them?

It's amazing that smokers actually feel justified in littering.

That's right, throwing your butts on the ground is littering. And it is illegal, by the way.

And no, I don't throw my gum wrappers on the ground. I put them in my pocket. Why don't you do the same with your cigarettes? Could it be that even YOU would find that disgusting?

People who still smoke in the 21st century don't really get it!

Of course they aren't going to respect you, they don't respect themselves! If they did, they would have taken the professional advice and warnings to stop smoking, save $4-12 per day and keep the street clean. All these things are results to thinking out our actions first. They are also positive reasons to stop smoking. Since smoking has no positive attributes or consequences, smokers live in a negative, bleak world. They just don't care!

If they cared, would they litter the street/sidewalk by tossing a cigarette butt? If they cared, would they smoke cigarettes in front of an impressionable child? If they cared, would they still dirty their teeth, breath, fingernails and lungs with smoke?

One pack per day X 365 days per year = $1460
$1460 can buy 486 gallons of gasoline (32.4 tankfuls)
or 730 gallons of milk for growing children
or 973 loafs of bread
or one Gateway computer system
or 62 inch Toshiba color television
or 97 (homeless) children's raincoats
but, since they don't care about others or themselves...it doesn't matter how many better ways there are to spend $1460 in a year.

I know. It's a smoker who started the fire that burned half of Los Angeles' Griffith Park :\.

They don't care because they are human vermin and think that everyone should tolerate their disgusting habit because it was tolerated for so many decades.

The way I see it -- we can't defecate out on the streets like so many people have their pet dogs do, so we shouldn't be able to smoke in public either.

oh please. ya cant smoke in resturants, parking garages, most public places, hell i know one place ya cant smoke anywhere on the property. and by the way, right or wrong tobacco is a huge industry and money making venture so quit bitchin, the govt could and probably would place more taxes on things not related to tabacco if cigarettes were to be outlawed. by the way have you ever thrown a piece of trash oh lets say a chewing gum wrapper on the ground. what makes you think the world is your trashcan. and as long as I am paying taxes and not doing anything illegal I will damn well do what I want.
